As a brand new GIS guy, I have been tasked with putting points over imagery that have lats and longs attached to them. Where can I find the resources to allow me to perform that function? Also I am having problems using the Editor toolbar. Is there a better resource than the ArcMap help button? Sorry for such a basic question.

Mapping Center Answer:

You can find a lot of great help online at Here, you'll be able to access ESRI's Knowledge Base, which includes Web Help, Technical Articles, White Papers, Documentation and the ESRI GIS Dictionary. You can also find downloads such as ArcScripts, Patches & Service Packs, Samples & Utilities, Data Models and Geoprocessing Tools and Models.

On the support site, I searched for the keywords "add x y data" -- the first listing down is Adding x,y coordinate data as a layer. This is most likely what you want, so check it out -- including the step by step instructions!

The answer may be wrong for you, but we would need to know a bit more about your data.  Get back in touch if you have more questions.
