What are the basic steps to make an isarithmic map in ARCMAP? As an example of data, let's say I have a series of temperatures within a river and want to create a map based on the various sites of similar and dissimilar data points.

Mapping Center Answer:

You should interpolate a raster surface from your temperature points and create contours from that.  Start with reading about the Spatial Analyst's interpolation tools to learn which will be best given your input data.
