Where can I find historical aeriel photographs of Northern California (Sonoma County in particular)?

Mapping Center Answer:

If you can get to your nearest Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS, whidh used to be the Soil Conservation Service or SCS), they will likely be your best bet for the highest resolution aerial imagery.  They should have photos at a map scale of approximately 1:20,000 which would have been used for their county soil survey maps.  These will likely be in print format unless they went through the process of scanning them.  For lower resolution serial imgery, and imagery that is orthorectified (and often in digital format already), try looking for the digital orthophotoquads (DOQs) for your area of interest.  They are sometimes available though your state or county GIS data distributors and often through the U.S. Geological Survey as well.
