Hello, I am looking for pre-WWII political boundaries (shapefile). I would surely appreciate any suggestions and/or locations that would "serve up" such data.

thx

Mapping Center Answer:

We do not distrubute that data on our Data and Maps DVD, nor do we currently have it online at ArcGIS Online.  So we would have to search for this the same way you would -- I suggest the Internet as your starting point.

If we find a source in the meantime, we will let you know.  If you find one, maybe you could let us know!

A colleague tipped us off to the following: http://library.thinkquest.org/C006628/GIS.html.

Looks like pretty good data though I have not done an accuracy check yet. It is in shapefile format and free for download, though I strongly suggest that you kindly credit the authors -- they did a lot of work to pull this together -- kudos to Jonathan and Amanda for making this available!
