How do I appropriately cite the ESRI World Topographic Map on printed maps, and how does the Create Commons, non-commercial apply to printed versus online use? I want print maps displaying flood inundations with World Topo as a backdrop. As a consultant am I barred from doing this?

Mapping Center Answer:

Generically, you should cite following when you need to cite the use of an ESRI map service:

  1. Service Name
  2. The URL you used
  3. The date your made the map

Given that information, more specific information regarding the details at any given scale or extent could be researched.
