i have orthophotos tiles where the image only fills part of some of the tiles. the remaining areas has been assigned the color 254, 254, 254. in arcmap i can specify that this color be rendered as 'nocolor'. when i publish this .mxd to arcserver and build a cache the white (254,254,254) areas display as white instead of 'nocolor' like they do in arcmap. is there anyway to build the cache so these areas are nocolor instead of white????

if i don't use the cache i see the orthos displayed as they are in arcmap.

Mapping Center Answer:

You need to use one of the PNG formats to cache so that the background is transparent.

this answer is to a different question.
also i have discovered that if i make the cache as a png32 then i dont have the issue of the white. so i have already solved it.
