ArcGIS Methods
Hello,
I'm looking for a more detailed definition to how ESRI is defining the
"Natural Break (Jenks)" Classification method it uses to classify data in ArcGIS Desktop. I have a resource (my college cartography book) that offers other classification methods that sound similar, with the most similar being the definitions to the "Fisher-Jenks Algorithm." The definition in the desktop and online help are a little vague. Can you elaborate?
The text I'm referring to is "Thematic Cartography and Geographic Visualization/Terry A. Slocum...[et al/].- 2nd ed. p. cm.-(Prentice Hall) 2005." I've included 4 pages of the text that define the "Fisher-Jenks Algorithm" and other classification methods.
Thanks,
Joe
