I have a series of tiled aerial images that have been assembled. I would like to produce a display aerial with this data and present it on a black background. I want to clip the aerial and place it on a black backgound)photoshop terms.)

I am unclear on how to pull this off. Your comments/assistane would be most appreciated.

Mapping Center Answer:

You can set the background of the data frame to be black so that when you place the aerial images on the page layout, the unused area will be black.  If you set this up in page layout view, you will see it better.

Right click the name of the data frame in the Table of Contents.  Click Properties, then click the Frame tab.  Here you can set the background color to be black. Click OK to see your changes.
