Control Placement of Copy/Pasted Annotation

December 14 2010 | 0 comments

Hello! Is there a way to copy a piece of annotation, move to another part of the map, and have it paste into your new area of interest? Every time I paste, it lands near the original copy, which, on a large map, doesn't work very well. Thank you!

Mapping Center Answer:

At this time, annotation pastes on top of the original annotation that was copied.

You can read more about copying and pasting annotation here.

Another option is to create a new piece of annotation in the desired location and make sure that it belongs to the same annotation feature class that you want.  This way, all of the properties of the added annotation (font, color, size, etc.) will all be preserved and a new attribute will be added to the selected annotation feature class.
