creating closed shapes with line or freehand drawing tools

Is it possible to "snap" line, curve, or freehand drawing tools to create a definite closed shape file. Goal is to use drawing tools to create a custom shape file that can be converted to feature and used for clipping. In most cases can use "closed" drawing tools (circle, ellipse, rectangle or polygon) to create shapes but wondering if there is a way to create a closed shape with the other tools. It is so handy to be able to create a shapefile outside of an edit session on a quick project, but without a way to assure closure these files do not work with the clip tool.

Thanks and Happy New Year

Mapping Center Answer:

If you use the Polygon tool on the Drawing toolbar, it will automatically close the graphic polygon.  You might also be interested in learning about how to join polygon graphics (they will also be closed polygons) -- here is a help topic on the subject: Joining graphics.
