Labels vs. Features: Can weights vary according to relationship?

Hello! Is there a way to give a feature a high weight relative to one label class, but little or no weight relative to another? Thank you!

Mapping Center Answer:

Unfortunately no.  There is one trick that can sometimes get around this, but it only works for producing annotation.  The trick is to produce annotation in phases, where you can adjust the feature weights in each phase based on what is being labeled.  Obviously not all maps need annotation, and not all needs like this can be met with such a solution.

Also, even if a feature layer is not being labeled, you can set up label classes to differentiate feature weights for the layers that are being labeled.
