Feature-Linked Annotation orientation

Hello! Please see the attached; after converting to feature-linked annotation, is there a way to maintain a highway shield's orientation to the page while moving it? It keeps rotating to fit the road, which with shields, looks crummy. This does not occur w/non-feature linked annotation. Thank you!

This is an editor property. After you start editing, use the Editor menu and choose options. In the Editing Options window, show the Annotation tab, and uncheck the option called "Automatically follow linked line features".
