Uneven grid index

I am using an uneven data grid for data driven pages. In order to help people keep their place (in addition to an index page) I would like to leave the labels on for my grid so they can see the location of adjacent grids. As part of this I would like to EXCLUDE it for the ACTIVE grid page. I am attaching an example of what I want but it still includes the label on the active page, which of course I want removed. I am not much of a scripter, so to custom write something was not an idea I would be able to come up with on my own, but I realize may be necessary to meet my needs.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Mapping Center Answer:

To exclude the labels for your active grid (or the current Data Driven Page Index Feature) go to the Layer Properties of the grid, select the Definition Query tab, and click the Page Definition button. In this dialogue window select the features that Don't Match option. This will label everything but the grid in current Data Driven Page.

For your purposes, you probably still want to show the grid because yours is an uneven one. Doing the above will make not only the label invisible but the outline too. To solve this, make a copy of the grid in the table of contents and use one for labeling and one for symbolizing. Then go into the properties of the labeling grid and do the steps mentioned above. Leave the symbolizing grid alone as it is now only used for symbolizing.
