Dear Cartographer

I am working on a project that requires the map to have a different orientation than the customary N-S. I am new to the program and could not find the answer. Thanks for your help.

Regards.

Mapping Center Answer:

You can do this by rotating the data frame. This option is available on the Data Frame tools toolbar.  To access this toolbar, click Customize on the top bar menu, then Toolbars, then click Data Frfame Tools. Here you can set a rotation angle based on how you want to orient data frame.

Tip 1 - temporarily add a graticule to your data frame to figure out the angle of rotation. To do this, right click the data frame name in the table of contents and click the Grids and Graticules tab. Here add a new graticule. Using this you can estimate the rotation angle of the data frame.

Tip 2 - always remember to place a north arrow on a map in which north is not "up".
