Which dataset is best for creating a hillshade

We have a DEM, DTM, and DSM dataset. Which would be the best for creating a hillshade raster?

All of these file types are supported in ArcGIS, as you can see in this help topic:  Supported raster data file types. From this topic, you can also see that there are inherent differences between these file types, so it is really up to you to decide which one best meets your needs (e.g., note that the DSM and DTM will have been processed to create different surfaces.) I often use DEM data but I convert it into ArcGIS GRID format and store it in my file geodatabase, for data management purposes.
