How do you add templates that have already been created to "My Templates" in the ArcMap 10?

Mapping Center Answer:

The location for map templates changed at 10.0. For 10.0, map templates arelcoated in the C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Desktop10.0\MapTemplates directory or the C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Desktop10.0\MapTemplates directory if you use the default install path. I was able to add a new folder to mine through Windows Explorer and to paste an .mxd into it. I was also able to save an .mxd into the template location from within ArcMap.

Note: A new folder won't show up as a choice in the template browser if it doesn’t have any templates in it.

You can also use the AdvancedArcMapSettings in the Utilities folder to edit the path that ArcMap uses when it looks for templates, in case you want to set it to a different path than the default. It only accepts one path so you'll want to put all templates you want quick access to in the same location, arranged in different subfolders to show up as tabs for better organization. You can always browse to other infrequently used templates in other locations as needed, too.

Also, if your templates are mxt files from 9.x you will want to read the help at
This talks about "What’s new for map templates in ArcGIS 10".
