Hi there,

It's fantastic that there are so many symbols provided within the ESRI AMFM Electric symbol set (Font), but I am curious as to what their common definitions are. For example, the triangle is usually used for a transformer, or the sideways F within a circle can be used for a fault indicator. Does anyone know of any documentation to support the characters in this Font?

Mapping Center Answer:

Sources for the font glyphs are usually a compilation of gathered works. Some of the documentation for this specific font is available in Henry Dreyfuss's Symbol Sourcebook (An Authoritative Guide to International Graphic Symbols) under the Engineering Chapter. Some were derived from the CAD Symbols Manual by IMSI.
