Lining up/Georeferencing layers in desired different projections?
I am working with some global polygon data that I want to spatially join to a polygon 50 by 50 km grid. I have the polygon data projected as cylindrical equal area which is what I want to preserve the area while being able to join it to a grid of equal size cells- grid needs to be unprojected. Right now the grid is huge and the global polygon data fits in about one square of it. How can I correct this while keeping some data projected and others not?
Mapping Center Answer:
Probably the simplest approach is to use the Create fishnet tool to define a new polygon grid in the same coordinate space as your global polygon data and use that instead.
