Setting Selection to colored but transparent

Is it possible to set the Selection symbology for a polygon layer as colored but transparent...I know how to do it on the regular layer properties Display tab but I haven't figure out if it's possible for selected feature symbology. We are looking to NOT use a hash mark or something similar. We want a colored, transparant selection. The Selection Options do not have a transparancy option. Thanks!

There isn't a way to apply transparency to feature selection symbology. It's a good idea though, so we'd invite you to submit it at ArcGIS Ideas.
