Average width labeling

I need to label average width of streams for wetland delineation maps. We are required to add an ¯ above an X to indicate the average width of a stream. I need a way to add the ¯ above an X. Do you know a way to do this? I saw an ealier posting but it only gave a answer for adding ¯ into a text string. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

The quickest way to create "x bar" symbol is to create the text string in a word processor, like MicroSoft Word, and then copy and paste it into ArcMap. There is an option to work with the MS Equation Editor (ti comes with MS Office) to create the full expression and then cut and paste that into ArcMap as text.
