Swiss Hillshade Model

I've been trying to use the Swiss Method tools and MDOW tools I downloaded, but every time I try to run it I get a Data type:Value is not valid. The value is not a String error. Can you give me some idea as to why this happens and what I can do to corect it? I'm using 9.2 with Spatial Analyst.

Mapping Center Answer:

I am in the process of updating the Swiss Hillshade model -- but you can also follow the steps that are outlined in the Word .doc we posted on Other Resources and come up with the same results. The link to the document is under the Terrain Representation Workshop abstract... on the Presentations tab of Other Resources. The exercise is "Creating a Hillshade DOC (1.8MB)".

I have updated the models to create both the Swiss and the MDOW hillshade effects. They should be on Mapping Center's ArcGIS Resources-Models, Tools & Scripts page so you can download them Oct. 6th, but in the meantime I also added them as an attachment to this Ask a Cartographer question.

A number of files and directories area created in the download, and the toolbox is available to add, but no tools show up -- are the tools not linked to the toolbox? Doesn't matter if it's downloaded via Firefox, IE, or via posting as attachment -- same frustrating results.

These are updated tools and they should be fine but you are not the only one who has reported this problem. so I am looking into it and will hope to have an answer before the end of the day! I hope!
