I want to click on a point on a map and attach other data to that point such as photos and other files, .dbf, excel, word files

You can add hyperlinks to map features -- the online help will take you through the steps. This will allow your map readers to access these types of information related to features:
- Document: a document or file
- Uniform resource locator (URL): a Web page
- Macro: to create customized hyperlink behavior
