I am an 8th grade science teacher at Yonkers Middle High School. I will be teaching several lessons on interpreting topographic maps and identifying latitude and longitude of given locations. I wanted my students to appreciate the importance of cartography by learning some rudimentary skills and interacting with a bona fide cartographer. Could you put me in contact with someone who is willing to share his or her expertise with my eager students?
Mapping Center Answer:
Since we're in Southern California this won't work out for us. However, there is a website, called www.cartotalk.com where nearly 1,000 cartographers are registered and at least 10 are in your area.
I posted your request in the announcements forum and if there are any takers I'll get you connected.
