Would like to be able to view (or search) Eastings & Northings for a Lamberts coordinate system. How can this be accomplished? In particular using the X&Y function.

Thanking you in advanced.

Mapping Center Answer:

If the coordinate system information you've got for your X&Y data does not contain the eastings/northings, then there's not much that can be done.  However, if you've got the eastings/northings and want to make sure it's properly used when you create your point data, do the following in the Add XY Data dialog:

  1. Click the Edit button in the Coordinate System section of the dialog; this will open the Spatial Reference Properties dialog.
  2. Click the Select button in the Spatial Reference Properties dialog, and browse to the Projected Coordinate Systems folder.  I'm assuming you want an Aussie coordinate system, given your email address.  So next go into the National Grids folder, then the Australia folder, scroll all the way down and get the GDA_1994_South_Australia_Lambert prj file.  You should be able to see the Easting/Northing parameters once you select the coordinate system.
  3. To change them, click the Modify button, which will open the Projected Coordinate System Properties dialog, where you will be able to see and edit the Easting/Northing parameters.
