Defining Point Elevations Based on Contours

I have a contour shape file with elevation data and I have a scatter point shape file with the wrong elevation data. I wanted to know if there was an automatic tool I could use to determine the elevation of the scatter points based on the surrounding contours.

Mapping Center Answer:

You could use the contours to create an elevation surface (a raster grid) and then use the raster surface to determine the elevation at the points.  Use the Topo to Raster tool to create the elevation surface from the contours. Then use the Extract Values to Points tool to add the elevation values from the raster surface to the point attribute table.
