Displaying a legend in ArcScene

Can you show a legend in ArcScene? i.e. the symbology for the TINS being displayed. I am exporting the scene to a graphic and need a legend to explain the symbology. Thanks.

Mapping Center Answer:

The answer is no, you cannot show a legend in ArcScene. Neither ArcScene or ArcGlobe have any layout capability; hence there is no way to add a legend to either or get one out.

Probably the best way to do this would be to export the image or images out of ArcScene, then save the layers out as layer files. Go into ArcMap, and add the layer files to the ArcMap document. In Layout mode, drag the data frame off the screen. Insert the exported image as a picture, and then insert the legend for the 2D map. It’s a bit of a workaround, but it should work!

I have the same exact problem, ArcScene is not making this as easy at it should be. I already did the work around for the legend and north arrows. I cannot however figure out how to create a scale bar. Please advise.
Not really a good idea posted by Aileen Buckley on Mar 23 2012 2:54PM
Because scale varies across a scene in ArcScene, it is really not a good idea to include a traditional scale bar -- it woould only be true for one location in the scene.
