I am a pretty new user to ARC and would like to know if there is a way to find the square mileage of the polygons in my map that represent our service territories.
Mapping Center Answer:
Use the field Calculator for geometry that was newly added in version 9.2.
To get this function, open your polygon layer's table and right-click on the field heading for the field you want to calculate square miles. You may need to use the Options button to add a new field (of type Double or Float).
The Calculate Geometry option was added just below the Field Calculator choice.
