labels of bar chart symbols

I'm using ArcView 9.3. From symbology tab in Layer Properties, I draw Bar/Column charts but I failed to show value of each bar as chart label. Please help me.

There are a couple of things to know about chart symbols in this context:

  1. There is no option to label the bar values.
  2. Using labeling results in labels being placed, but the charts and the labels are not linked, i.e., have no knowledge of one another.

That said, for simple maps, you can draw single bar chart symbols on points and label them.  You may need to convert your features to points using the Feature to Point tool to create the points (use the Inside option). By simple maps, I mean where there are no overlapping or multi-part shapes needing charts and labels, and where you are only using a single bar/column.
