Export marker symbol from style

October 26 2009 | 0 comments

Hello,
There is a picture marker symbol in the civic style that I would like to use on an arcgis server website. Is there a way to export this image outside of the style file?

Mapping Center Answer:

In a blank ArcMap document, use the Drawing toolbar to place a point marker using the New Marker option.  Double click on the point symbol and in the Properties window click the button to Change Symbol.  In the Symbol Selector click on Properties, change the Type of symbol to Character Marker Symbol and navigate to the specific symbol you want in the  Civic Style.

Go to Layout view in ArcMap and zoom in on the symbol.  Now, you can take a screen capture of the symbol and save it as a .png.  You should be able to use this on your ArcGIS Server website.
